What is a printed mural?
Have you ever heard about printed murals? Most likely not, so we want you to learn what this is. This truly revolutionary technology allows images to be printed directly on walls in high resolution, in virtually any size, adapting them to the space in which they are printed. Just look at the photographs and the video. It is really breath-taking.
This sophisticated machine is programmed to print the image automatically in a type of environmentally friendly ink that has all the qualities of the wall paint and can last for many years.
Watch the video to see the majestic process of the mural’s creation after all the preparatory work has been done. It takes only minutes and is rather mesmerising to watch. In order for this to happen, the equipment has to be assembled on site so that the printing head could move easily both vertically and horizontally.
Advantages of printed murals
Printed murals have many advantages over alternative ways of decorating walls, such as framed prints/pictures or wallpaper. The main advantages are as follows:
- They can be adapted to any space in terms of size, shape and colour. Because they are monochrome, they can match and be adjusted to any background colours
- They can be applied to a specific area of the space without the need to cover the whole space or the whole wall (unlike wallpaper)
- They are very durable and washable just like painted wall and resistant to the effect of light and humidity (more so than paper prints)
- They are easy to remove simply by painting over without a need to redecorate the whole room (not as easy as framed prints but certainly easier than most kinds of wallpaper)
- They are more visually compelling than either framed prints or wallpaper and you can choose any print from the vast collection that we have.
Use of monochrome prints
We propose using monochrome prints based on original 17th and 18th centuries prints in our collection, not modified with AI (except for limited editing to remove defects due to their age). They can be easily adapted to any background colour and the visual effect is stunning.
For example, this image was printed in a bedroom where the walls were painted in a pale shade of pink. The client had bought the apartment already painted and did not like this colour. However, instead of repainting it, they had this monochrome picture printed on the wall with the tints of black and white adjusted to blend with the background colour. It completely transformed the space. The client no longer thinks of repainting the walls in a different colour, which would have cost them much more than having this exquisite picture printed.
We have a vast collection of material to be used for printed murals. You can select any print on the Products page and we can adapt it to your space by adjusting the size, colour and resolution.
Costs
Now coming to the question of cost, you may find that the cost of wall printing is not prohibitive at all.
Yes, it involves the use of a very expensive and sophisticated equipment that must be brought to your place and assembled and a team of specialists to use it (which may involve additional costs if it requires a long trip). Yet, compare the total costs of printing a mural on your wall with the costs of either covering it with framed prints or covering the whole room with wallpaper of comparable quality. You will see that you would be better off cost-wise doing the printed mural than using either of the above alternatives. It is really worth it, considering the stunning visual effect and all the benefits listed above.
Depending on the size of the project, the net cost of wall printing would vary from £150 to £170 (UK prices) or 200-210 euro (in France) per square meter plus a fee for the use of the digital image and related expenses (such as adaptation of images to the specifics of the space, logistical costs, taking into account the distance to travel).
The cost will be calculated on a case-by-case basis taking into account all the relevant factors, such as the number and size of murals and the size of the original prints to be used, your location, etc.
